Pecar como Diós manda (To sin like you mean it)
The history of sexuality is the history of humanity. One cannot understand the essence of a society without understanding the web of sexual relations that organized it. Sex has been responsible for the birth, the splendor, the decadence, and the fall of the greatest civilizations. In addition, after Freud, nobody can ignore its impact on individuals, on their visual art and stories. Nevertheless, until now, there has never existed a sexual history of Argentineans. This volume – the first of three – sheds light on the rich and ignored sexuality of the original Americans, the violent changes imposed by the conquest, the hypocrisy of the viceroyship during colonial times, and the new moral canons that emerged in the wake of the May Revolution. |
